Fox, Badger Hedgehog, and Me

Fox, Badger, Hedgehog and Me is a dark psychological novel told through the voice of a boy who believes he has finally become free.

In the English countryside, following the devastation of the foot-and-mouth crisis, a neglected foster child retreats with his dog into a hidden woodland hollow known as the Dell. There, he begins to build his own world, a kingdom governed by his rules, his logic, and his sense of justice.

As isolation deepens, imagination and reality blur. Acts of violence are reframed as necessity, cruelty becomes order, and childhood fantasy twists into something far more dangerous. Encounters with outsiders threaten the fragile balance of his realm, forcing him to defend it at any cost.

Unsettling and intimate, Fox, Badger, Hedgehog and Me explores abuse, control, and the terrifying logic of a mind that does not recognise itself as broken. This is a disturbing psychological portrait of innocence corrupted and power unchecked.
